The show was a huge success. 250 in the audience the first night, and 400+ for each of the others... That's standing room only. We were actually seating people in the balconies behind the lighting. Cast usually stands up there to watch and listen for queues, so the wings and lobby and prop room all had folks in victorian garb wandering about, in character about half the time. The audience didn't notice, though, so.
There's not really much else to note. I miss the show, and those I worked with already, but at least a few of us will be rehearsing Yeomen of the Guard together shortly. (The Ghost of Christmas Present is helping to direct that; we sort of put the community in community theatre <.<) I might try to do Little Mary Sunshine too, just for a change of pace. (Gilbert and Sullivan isn't quite boring, but I could stand to have more on my resume)
I've been considering, once again, the choices ahead of me. I have no mnoey of my own, though my 18th birthday is quickly approaching at which point I will no longer have to jump through bureaucratic hoops to get a steady, paying job. My parents pay for what they can, but we already have debts to be paid and such, so my education has come down to just plain old education, and learning from experience with the Off-Monroe Players.
I want to take vocal lessons. I know a ton of voice teachers through OMP, so that ought to be easy enough if I had the money. Getting more than my basic 'training,' for lack of a better word, in theatre might be a little tougher, though. I've been warned away from MCC's theatre program more than once by more than one person, but I haven't finished looking into transfer options yet. (I've considered taking the prerequisites at MCC, 'cause it's cheaper, and transfering to Nazareth or someplace. I need to look into it more seriously)
For the record, so far that poll down there has 2:1 going for Livejouirnal over Both... No one's voted for Blogger at all, which I suppose isn't surprising.

If any of you happen to actually live near me at all, and know me or else just want to see the show, make sure you reserve seats and leave valuables at home. Just FYI.
http://www.off-monroeplayers.org for information on reservations! (And the show and reservations are both free)

I've been considering more and more switching to blogger/blogspot just because it's a Google product and by gum Google is the only non-evil corp in the world. Also there aren't very many advertisements, probably because Google's cult following gives it the status of a religious institution and so it's exempt from taxes. Now they do some stupid things, don't get me wrong. Honestly, if you're going to make a web browser, make the damn thing conform to the computer's theme. I don't want this freaking blinding chrome skin on top of my nice mellow purple and white. And there was some other thing, but I'll overlook that. The point is, Google rox. :P
The main thing keeping me at livejournal--the only thing in fact--is that all of my friends except for ONE HERETIC use it, so they can all comment and stuff without having to grab a feed and stuff. I already have a blogger account, so.
In other news, the news is taking notice of OMP recently and our productions. You may have heard through certain reliable sources that the Democrat and Chronicle was going CRAZY (we got a whole little tiny article in the living section) over HMS Pinafore, and they ran a photo and a little blurb that said 'G&S Christmas Carol, December 12-14, be there or else' for this show. Well now we've REALLY hit the big time: R News was there last night for the preview, (it was a rehearsal that we invited people to watch) and apparently they'er going to be running clips and talking about it on opening night.
Even before that we had like 170 people reserved for Sunday's matinee, this is going to be awesome. I'm nervous now, though, because I simultaneously started singing the wrong version of my song and blanked on the actual words so I couldn't just fudge my way through it. Luckily I got the crucial line in, and nothing besides the awkward pause and momentary shocked look on my face (a look I remedied the moment I noticed) seemed particularly out of place.
If you're curious, I'm singing a song from HMS Pinafore with different words, and I started to sing the HMS Pinafore version...

- Music:I Am the Nephew of Mister Scrooge, over and over and over again
Ignore the title, it was the openining night. Our co-director is just cool. :P
We did well, I think. The only thing we messed up was I think the Act I finale, and the audience didn't notice anyway.
So, there's one line that I've messed up every time in the past. Instead of 'Well spoke, well spoke,' I kept saying 'Aye aye...' Well, friends, last night I said the correct line! It was great. I stood there and said, 'Well spoke, well spoke.' It was even at the right time. Everything was perfect, but for one thing: Every other member of the chorus--every single one--said 'Aye aye' instead. x_x I just simply can't win.
I downloaded Google Desktop for Linux, which basically is just a fansy 'find' command that goes faster and also searches the web. I also got Picasa, which indexed all of my photos for me and stuff. I'm gonna use Picasa web albums from now on, instead of Photobucket, since Google is infinitely better at everything. Except, apparently blogs.
In case I hadn't already told you, Gayden Wren--playwright: Very Truly Yours, Gilbert and Sullivan and A Gilbert and Sullivan Christmas Carol (He likes Gilbert and Sullivan)--will read my name and see me sing and act in his show at some point in December. He won't be attending, but still... We're recording it, and he's receiving a copy. Neat.
Random thoughts:
I wonder why I have no tag for HMS Pinafore.
You all should get a Facebook account. I NEED TO SEE YOUR FACES.
If nothing else, you should get some IM and log on regularly or something... I prefer Facebook. All of my photos of you are, no doubt, ancient or non-existant. :(

A couple of things I forgot. I learned to apply makeup, and apparently our run of G&S Christmas Carol is being recorded for the playwright, Gayden Wren, to watch an critique.
We performed the second act of HMS Pinafore yesterday, for the rehearsal, all still in our Halloween costumes... The show is freaking hilarious that way. Various sailors in dresses, the Captain dressed as Ceasar. Josephine as Little Red Riding Hood, and Ralph as the big bad wolf. Sir Joseph wore a construction worker's uniform, Dick Deadeye was one of the blues brothers, and so on.
NaNoWriMo has begun. I've got a graph for it, look!

Good ol' google! Theoretically that should update as I supply it with new information, but maybe it's a static image. I suppose we'll find out. As I post this, it has a little bit already written... Hopefully that'll disappear, as I was testing it before I posted this.
